Mystical Shopping

Over Columbus Day weekend, the family and I packed up the car and went on vacation to Preston, Connecticut. It was the first vacation we had gone on in over 5 years. With the Autumn atmosphere setting in, the scenery was more picturesque than I imagined. Reds, oranges, and yellows colored the trees everywhere you looked. Homes and shops were designed with old, colonial architecture. No doubt about it, it was one of the best times of the year to visit.

Upon arriving at our rented little home at a campground named Strawberry Park, the fam and I took the rest of the day getting settled. Bright and early Saturday morning however, we drove to a nearby town called Mystic. Our first stop was the Olde Mistick Village, an outdoor shopping center reflecting early America. The Bleu Squid is a must visit when you’re there. Their lobster grilled cheese and cupcakes are to die for!

Next up was a river side ice cream parlor to enjoy the view. With the perfect weather that day, plenty of people were out sailing.

To wrap up a great time in Mystic, the family stopped for lunch at the famous Mystic Pizza. Sound familiar? Yes, it was none other than the pizzeria from the Julia Roberts film “Mystic Pizza”. If only I hadn’t forgotten to take in my camera. :p

Patricia Field – The Work of an Inspiration

306 on the Bowery. A produce stand on the outside; a wonderland of exciting fashions on the inside. The Patricia Field boutique was worth every step of the 40 blocks my parents and I walked to get there!

Patricia Field was one of the first fashion stylists I ever researched. Seeing her work and hearing her opinions on living life to the fullest made me fall in love with styling even more. Seeing in-person the outcome of decades of dedication to her craft left me inspired to push harder to become what I want to achieve.

I even saw Ms. Field herself in the store! However, being completely starstruck and fearing embarrassment, I decided to wait for another day and time to introduce myself.

Enjoy the photos of the fabulously styled mannequins and comment on your favorite!

Day Trip to NYC

On the 10th, my parents and I took a trip up to the Big Apple to visit the museum at FIT and the Patricia Field boutique. The weather was perfect for all the walking we did, and I got an amazing stash of photos!

The route to the boutique offered plenty unique sights. We made a stop at a shop called The London Candy Co. along the way. It’s an adorable place worth checking out when you visit!

The Patricia Field boutique was so amazing that I’m going to make a separate post about it. So stay tuned!

In the meantime, here’s a collection of some of the best pictures taken throughout my wonderful adventure!
